A cultural icon in New Zealand, proudly worn by many of us year round, jandals are a symbol of the laid-back Kiwi lifestyle and long, hot summers at the beach. Auckland man Morris Yock first made this simple rubber footwear in his Onehunga garage in 1957. The term 'jandal', rarely used outside NZ, combines the words 'Japanese' and 'sandal'.
