Kea are a national treasure and are considered to be one of the most intelligent birds on Earth. Notorious for their cheeky and inquisitive nature, the world’s only alpine parrot can be found in our beautiful alpine and forest environments in the South Island. The mighty olive-green Kea were named by Māori for the sound of their call and are greatly admired for their cheeky intelligence.
